Jakarta, VIVA – The Central Leadership Board of the Angkatan Muda Pembaharuan Indonesia (AMPI DPP), under the leadership of AMPI DPP Chairman Jerry Sambuaga, received an informal goodwill visit from the Majlis Belia Malaysia (MBM) at the AMPI Media Centre in Jakarta on Saturday, 25 July 2026.

The meeting was led directly by AMPI DPP Secretary-General Arief Rosyid Hasan, who welcomed Muhammad Syahmi Shamsuddin, Assistant Secretary-General of the Majlis Belia Malaysia.

The gathering marked an initial step towards strengthening Indonesia-Malaysia youth diplomacy, while also finalising preparations for the Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta Nusantara Youth Nexus (KLJ Nexus), to be held on 7–9 August 2026 under the theme “One Region, One Generation, One Future.”

As Malaysia’s umbrella youth organisation, the Majlis Belia Malaysia holds a strategic position equivalent to Indonesia’s National Youth Committee (KNPI).

This institutional equivalence provides a strong foundation for AMPI and MBM to build closer cooperation in promoting youth leadership across the ASEAN region.

During the discussion, Arief Rosyid Hasan emphasised that ASEAN geopolitical issues must be a primary concern for the younger generation. He argued that Indonesian and Malaysian youth must take an active role in maintaining regional stability and strengthening ASEAN’s position amid global dynamics.

“Youth collaboration is not merely about programme exchanges, but also about how the younger generation can bring forward strategic ideas for the future of ASEAN,” Arief said in a statement to the media on Sunday, 26 July 2026.

In response, Muhammad Syahmi Shamsuddin expressed appreciation for the AMPI DPP’s initiative, noting that Indonesia and Malaysia face similar challenges, ranging from digital transformation and employment to leadership regeneration.

He therefore expressed hope that collaboration between the two organisations could produce policy recommendations and strengthen youth networks at the regional level.

As a follow-up, an official Majlis Belia Malaysia delegation will visit Indonesia on 7–9 August 2026 as part of the Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta Nusantara Youth Nexus programme, commencing on 7 August 2026.

The delegation is scheduled to hold an audience with Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, who also serves as Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, as well as to attend a youth discussion forum at the AMPI DPP office.
