AMPG Calls on Cadres to Plant 444,444 Trees Across Indonesia
The central board of the Angkatan Muda Partai Golkar (AMPG) has called on its young cadres to plant 444,444 trees simultaneously across Indonesia as part of an effort to preserve the environment and increase awareness of national and public safety.
AMPG Chairman Said Aldi Al Idrus stated in Jakarta on Sunday that young people must care about the environment, as natural disasters and environmental degradation require the involvement of all elements of society. “We urge AMPG to care about the environment. Young people must care about the safety of the nation and the safety of the people wherever they are,” Said said.
The tree-planting movement was symbolically launched during the closing of the third wave of the 2026 National Cadre Training at the Golkar Party headquarters in Jakarta. The event concluded five days of education and training for cadres from 36 provinces.
He explained that the tree planting would be carried out by all levels of AMPG, from the provincial and district or city levels down to sub-districts and villages. “Today is the fifth day of the third wave of the PP AMPG National Cadre Training, attended by 36 provinces across Indonesia. The ending is the planting of 444,444 trees, which will be followed by all AMPG administrators from the provincial, district/city to sub-district and village levels,” he said.
In the initial phase, AMPG planted banyan trees as a symbol of the Golkar Party. The movement also includes the planting of productive and hardwood trees, such as rambutan, durian, meranti, and mahogany, which are considered to have both economic and ecological benefits. “Because we are the Golkar Party, whose symbol is the banyan tree, we plant banyan trees. In addition, there are fruit trees, meranti, mahogany, including Musang King durian seedlings that will be planted in several regions,” Said added.
He further noted that all AMPG programmes are a follow-up to the directive of Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia, who wants the party’s wing organisation to not only be active in political activities but also to deliver programmes that provide direct benefits to the community. “All movements carried out by AMPG must be beneficial. As a party wing, we continue to carry out what the Chairman has instructed so that the Golkar Party increasingly provides benefits to the people wherever they are,” Said said.
“Young people, both Generation Z and millennials, are very concerned about environmental issues. Therefore, this movement not only aims to strengthen the Golkar Party towards 2029 but also to ensure that the future of the environment is maintained,” said Ilham.
This commitment also received support from regional administrators who participated in the National Cadre Training. Representatives from Papua, Riau Islands, and North Sulawesi expressed their readiness to implement the tree-planting programme in their respective regions as a follow-up to the national movement initiated by PP AMPG.
