AMPB's Botok: We Came to Jakarta with No Intention of Causing Unrest
The Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB) has affirmed that the demonstration held in front of the DPR RI building in Jakarta on Thursday (27/8) will proceed peacefully and focus on two demands related to eradicating corruption. AMPB coordinator Supriyono, also known as Botok, said the two demands are the immediate passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) and the application of the death penalty for corruptors.
“We have come to Jakarta with no intention of causing unrest. We support the movement of our friends in the Greater Jakarta area who will hold a demonstration on 27 August,” Botok said when met in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/8/2026).
He stressed that the AMPB demonstration carries no agenda to unseat President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. “There is no effort to remove Prabowo-Gibran. We support the Prabowo administration so that it becomes better,” he said.
According to him, AMPB came to Jakarta to convey the public’s aspirations regarding the eradication of corruption, while also supporting the demonstration held by the public in the Greater Jakarta area. Botok said AMPB had previously conveyed similar aspirations in Pati Regency on 13 August by asking the Pati Regency DPRD to propose that the Asset Forfeiture Bill be passed immediately.
After learning of plans for a demonstration with similar demands in Jakarta, AMPB decided to attend and convey those aspirations in front of the DPR RI. He said the arrival of the Pati community in Jakarta was also intended to provide input to the DPR RI regarding the deliberation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill.
“We came to the DPR RI to provide input so that the bill is passed immediately,” he said.
Botok confirmed that the AMPB demonstration will be centred in front of the DPR RI building and will not spread to other locations. He also stressed that AMPB is not inviting any group or member of the public to commit anarchic acts during the expression of aspirations.
“Our demonstration is focused in front of the DPR RI and we are focused on those two demands,” he said.
