PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) has once again applied for a concentrate export permit from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). This application follows the previous export permit granted for 2025, which was valid for only six months and expires in April 2026.

Assistant II of the NTB Regional Secretariat, Lalu Mohammad Faozal, stated that PT AMNT is requesting an additional six months to export the raw materials. This is because Amman Mineral Industri’s (AMIN) smelter is not yet operating optimally.

“As of today, (the smelter) is not fully completed to process downstream production at Amman,” he said on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

According to Faozal, if PT AMNT does not export, this situation could impact NTB’s economic growth. The sector would not contribute to the economic growth of Bumi Gora and risks causing contraction in the following quarter.

“Therefore, with this reasoning, we hope the central government can provide flexibility again so that the company located in West Sumbawa Regency (KSB) can export,” he emphasised.

He explained that the Ministry of ESDM previously granted an export permit to PT AMNT in November 2025 due to force majeure conditions that halted smelter operations since July 2025. Nevertheless, he hopes the permit will be granted again even without extraordinary events.

“We certainly hope to get the permit. If we provide the same reasons as when the first permit was issued, I think there is no reason for the centre to reject it,” he clarified.

Meanwhile, the Head of the NTB Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Samsudin, said there is still no certainty regarding the extension of the concentrate export permit.

He explained that before the permit expires, the regional government usually holds discussion and coordination meetings with PT AMNT and relevant ministries. The evaluation results from those meetings will serve as the basis for determining the export permit extension this year.

Samsudin added that the duration of the permit extension depends heavily on a comprehensive evaluation, including considerations of social, political, and economic aspects.

“We hope it will be extended. Don’t be pessimistic but optimistic. That means we still need to evaluate first with the Ministry of ESDM, the provincial government, and AMNT. If no extension is needed, then none,” he concluded.
