Amirul handover ceremony Tuesday
JAKARTA: The Army's Special Force (Kopassus) chief Maj. Gen.
Amirul Isnaini will hand over his command baton to his successor
Brig. Gen. Sriyanto at the force's headquarters in Cijantung,
East Jakarta, on Tuesday, Kopassus spokesman Capt. Farid Ma'ruf
said on Sunday.
Amirul, a 1975 graduate of the Armed Forces Academy (Akabri),
will lead the Wirabuana Regional Military Command, overseeing all
provinces in Sulawesi. He will replace Maj. Gen. Achmad Yahya,
who was installed as Jakarta Military commander last Thursday.
Farid said Amirul would leave for Makassar, the capital of
South Sulawesi province, on Wednesday, while the handover
ceremony from Yahya to Amirul would be held on Friday.
"Pak Amirul will leave for Makassar one day after he transfers
his command baton to Pak Sriyanto. So, he will probably be absent
at the handover ceremony of the chief of the Army's Strategic
Reserves Command (Kostrad)," Farid told The Jakarta Post.
The newly appointed Kostrad chief, Lt. Gen. Bibit Waluyo, is
slated to receive the command baton from Gen. Ryamizard Ryacudu,
who was installed as the Army chief of staff last month, on
Wednesday. --JP
