Amiruddin Appointed as a Member of Komnas HAM to Replace Hari Kurniawan
Amiruddin Al Rahab has officially been appointed as a member of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) for the 2022-2027 term. He replaces former member Hari Kurniawan, who resigned. Amiruddin previously served as a member of Komnas HAM for the 2017-2022 period. The appointment was outlined in the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 24/P of 2026 concerning the Formalisation of the Interim Appointment of a Member of the National Commission on Human Rights, dated 2 March 2026, according to chair Anis Hidayah. “Under that Presidential Decree, Mr Amiruddin Al Rahab is officially appointed as an Interim Member of the National Commission on Human Rights for the 2022-2027 term, replacing Hari Kurniawan who had resigned in 2025,” Anis said in a written statement on Thursday (5 March). Anis explained that based on Article 83(1) of Law No. 39 of 1999 on HAM, members of Komnas HAM are selected by the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) based on the proposal of Komnas HAM and sworn in by the President as head of state. “The interim replacement of a member is expected to strengthen the work of Komnas HAM in promoting and upholding human rights,” she said.
