JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Amiruddin Al Rahab was sworn in as an ad hoc member of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) to replace Hari Kurniawan. The replacement of a Komnas HAM member is set out in Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 24/P of 2026 concerning the formalisation of the ad hoc appointment of a member of Komnas HAM, signed on Monday (2 March 2026).
“Based on the presidential decree, Mr Amiruddin Al Rahab is officially appointed as an ad hoc member of the Komnas HAM for the 2022-2027 term to replace Hari Kurniawan,” said the chair of Komnas HAM, Anis Hidayah, in her official statement on Wednesday (4 March 2026).
The appointment of the ad hoc member has been conducted in accordance with Article 83(1) of Law 39 of 1999 on Human Rights. Members of Komnas HAM are elected by the House of Representatives (DPR) based on the proposal of Komnas HAM and formalised by the President as Head of State.
“The existence of this ad hoc replacement is expected to strengthen Komnas HAM’s work in the promotion and enforcement of human rights,” Anis concluded.
Amiruddin is not a new name to Komnas HAM. He served as a Commissioner of Komnas HAM for the period 2017-2022 and previously held the post of External Deputy Chair.
