Amien Rais Claims Ministers Complain They Can't Meet Prabowo Because of Teddy
Amien Rais has once again voiced criticism against Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. He assesses that Teddy’s position is too close to President Prabowo Subianto and has the potential to disrupt the course of leadership.
Amien states that Teddy’s current role is considered to exceed the capacity of a cabinet secretary. He even accuses Teddy of having control over determining who can meet the President.
“Well, I see that this Mr Teddy is just loafing around. To the extent that the one deciding who the guests are, which ministers, which generals can meet Mr Prabowo—it’s this Teddy,” said Amien when met in Sleman on Saturday (2/5/2026).
“I have a minister friend who told me, ‘sometimes I want to meet the president but I can’t, because Teddy says there’s no time’. Even though Mr Prabowo is available, even for just 5-10 minutes it can’t be done,” he stated.
Amien assesses that this situation has the potential to become a blunder in Prabowo’s leadership.
“Well, things like this become a blunder, a handicap for Mr Prabowo’s leadership journey,” he snapped.
Nevertheless, Amien does not advocate for harsh sanctions against Teddy. He merely proposes that Teddy’s position be transferred elsewhere so as not to be too close to the President.
“No need to punish, no need to censure. Just give him another job, replace him with someone who doesn’t become a burden,” he emphasised.
He also stressed that Teddy should no longer be in the president’s inner circle to avoid triggering issues in government coordination.
“Remove Teddy. Give him busyness elsewhere, but not stuck to Mr Prabowo so that it can disrupt,” he concluded.
