Amidst Grief, the Story Behind the Naming of Prada Arif Budi Sampurna Goes Viral
Amidst the grief over the assault and murder of Indonesian Army soldier Prada Arif Budi Sampurna, a video recounting the story behind his name has gone viral on social media. The incident, which occurred on Jalan Raya Pondok Hijau Golf in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang, on Sunday (19/7/2026), resulted in the death of the young soldier after he was attacked by seven unknown individuals. Police have since named seven suspects with varying roles, including one identified by the initial H (21), who is alleged to be the main perpetrator who stabbed the victim to death.
As the family continues to mourn, a TikTok account @inisiapa0341 uploaded a video of a past live stream featuring Prada Arif Budi Sampurna and his mother. During the stream, a netizen asked why Arif Budi was called by the nickname ‘Yudha’.
His mother explained that the nickname was given by his uncle. ‘The name Yudha was given by his uncle. My younger brother’s name is Christopher Yudha Lombote. So, his middle name was used to call him. It’s a nickname,’ she stated. She further explained that she wanted to give birth to her first child in her hometown. The grandfather and uncle wanted to name the first grandchild in the family, but the father already had a name prepared: Arif Budi Sampurna. ‘Grandpa wanted to give a name because he was the first grandchild, and the uncle also wanted to give a name. But your father had the authority. So when I went home to give birth in the village, he had already entrusted the name, and it could not be contested,’ she clarified. Consequently, the grandfather and uncle could only give him a middle name to use as a nickname, calling Arif Budi ‘Yudha’.
