Amid US Attacks, Iran Asserts War Will End Through Victory or Negotiation

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has asserted that the ongoing conflict with the United States will only end through absolute military victory or negotiation, stressing that Tehran must first secure a strong bargaining position on the battlefield. In a statement to the state news agency IRNA, Araghchi said military success is a crucial prerequisite before entering any diplomatic process to end the confrontation. “The end of the war is possible either through absolute military victory or through negotiations. The right time for negotiations is when you have achieved reliable field and strategic successes in the military domain,” Araghchi said, as quoted by Al Jazeera on Monday. He emphasised that any policy regarding the escalation of war must not be taken hastily, adding that the safety of the people and the future of the nation’s sovereignty remain the top priorities in every strategic decision. “You cannot risk people’s lives and the fate of an entire country. Decisions must be made based on accurate and complete calculations,” he stressed. Araghchi also urged political leaders to continuously conduct in-depth evaluations of the consequences of continuing the war, including whether further combat would yield strategic advantages or merely exacerbate losses from both humanitarian and national interest perspectives. Despite acknowledging certain losses during the armed conflict, Araghchi claimed Iran has successfully demonstrated itself as a decisive international player, proving the resilience of its system. The statement follows a sharp rise in tensions after the US launched retaliatory military operations targeting coastal areas in Iran, responding to attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
