JAKARTA — Photos from reports by DKI Jakarta’s Transportation Agency (Dishub) officers are suspected of being manipulated by altering the timestamps, which has gone viral on social media.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has confirmed the practice and stated that the case is being processed and will be examined by the Inspectorate.

The information emerged from a post by the Threads account @glensaimima, which discovered that the same identical photo was used in two different reports by Dishub officers.

In the first photo, the scene shows Dishub officers lined up along the road with many street vendors (PKL) behind them. The timestamp on the photo indicates 25 October 2025 at 08.40 WIB.

However, in the second photo, the identical situation was reused for a different report. All location data points on the photo are exactly the same, but the image capture time differs.

The timestamp on the second photo indicates 23 October 2025 at 09.00 WIB.

“After the buzz about JAKI reports using AI, this is even smarter—no AI used, but officers reuse the same photo in two different reports. Only the timestamp is changed,” reads the caption of the post, quoted on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

In response to the finding, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Communications, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik), Budi Awaluddin, confirmed the manipulation of reports by rogue Dishub officers.

Budi conveyed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government appreciates public participation in monitoring officers’ reports through the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app. According to him, public criticism serves as important input for service improvements.

He also emphasised that the incident is a special concern for the leadership of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. As a preventive measure, Diskominfotik will tighten security systems on the JAKI app to prevent similar cheating.

“In response to this, we are strengthening the JAKI system, both technologically and in terms of oversight. In the future, there will be enhancements such as stricter photo validation, use of direct field documentation (real-time capture), and development of features to detect potential manipulation, fraud, or AI,” he explained.

Budi stressed that those proven to have manipulated reports will face firm sanctions.

“This is important to maintain the integrity and trust in the existing complaint system,” Budi asserted.

“On the internal side, we are also providing guidance to field officers so that report handling is done correctly and in accordance with the rules,” he said.

Budi assured that every public complaint will continue to receive attention from the government.
