Amid Selling Pressure, Foreign Investors Hunt High-Risk Stocks
Foreign investors continued to record net selling in the domestic stock market as the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) plummeted by more than 4% during Monday’s trading. However, amidst the heavy market pressure, foreign investors were observed hunting for several stocks characterised by high volatility.
According to trading data, foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp447.1 billion across the market, with a total transaction value reaching Rp21.43 trillion. Nevertheless, several stocks were nonetheless being accumulated by foreign investors, primarily within the commodity and energy sectors, as well as stocks known for aggressive price movements.
The stock with the largest net foreign buy was PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) at Rp258.4 billion. This was followed by PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) at Rp133.1 billion and PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS) at Rp127.6 billion.
Additionally, foreign investors recorded net purchases in PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) amounting to Rp37.9 billion, PT Darma Henwa Tbk (DEWA) at Rp30.3 billion, and PT MNC Kapital Indonesia Tbk (BCAP) at Rp29.1 billion.

On the other hand, the IHSG closed down 4.52% to the level of 5,342.14. This decline brings the index’s correction since the beginning of the year to approximately 38%, while from its peak in January 2026, the IHSG has fallen by more than 41%.
Selling pressure was widespread, with 661 stocks declining, while only 78 stocks gained and 78 remained stagnant during yesterday’s trading.
