Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has assured that he is back in good health. The former Chairman of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) stated that his visit to the hospital was part of a routine check-up. “Yes (I was admitted to the hospital), but I’ve been discharged. It’s routine, just a regular check-up,” Purbaya told reporters at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Monday (4/5/2026). Regarding his health condition, Purbaya said his blood sugar level is now back to normal at 118 mg/dL, and the pain in his lower back is improving. “It’s fine now. (Blood sugar) 118 mg/dL is normal again. I think everything is pretty much okay. My back is normal,” he added. Previously, rumours circulated about the Finance Minister’s health, claiming the State Treasurer was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jakarta. Amid these rumours, Purbaya shared a video of himself swimming, indicating he is in good shape. In the video uploaded to his personal social media account, he encouraged the public, especially Generation Z, to adopt a healthy lifestyle. “Good morning, guys. Gen Z, don’t forget to exercise—swimming is fine, running is okay, padel too. I usually swim. The long weekend didn’t feel like it,” Purbaya wrote, quoted from his personal TikTok account @purbayayudhis, on Sunday (3/5). Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung also responded to the news about Purbaya’s health. “Wow, I don’t know. Insha’Allah he’s healthy. Let’s just pray,” Juda said when met after attending an event of the IPB Alumni Association in Jakarta on Saturday (2/5). Juda also confirmed that the APBN KiTa press conference will still be held on Wednesday (6/5) after it was previously cancelled. The APBN KiTa agenda was originally scheduled for Wednesday (29/4). According to him, the rescheduling was done to await the release of economic growth data by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), which will be issued on Tuesday (5/5), so that the data can be presented comprehensively.
