Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Pertamina (Persero) Vice President Director Oki Muraza has revealed the company’s mitigation measures to secure energy supply and maintain domestic resilience. Pertamina is preparing layers of defence, pursuing availability, and increasing upstream production to reduce crude oil imports.

‘In the downstream sector, diversification is being carried out, reducing diesel with B40-B50, and reducing petrol imports by replacing them with ethanol,’ Oki said while speaking at the CNBC Indonesia Energy Forum in Jakarta on Thursday (25/6/2026). ‘We are also contributing in the electricity sector with geothermal. The main thing is availability first,’ he continued.

Oki also stressed that Pertamina continues to consult with the House of Representatives and the government regarding affordability. This ensures that the measures taken continue to favour the people and that activities can continue. ‘As the Minister has stated, not to burden the people, there is a buffer, and so on. We continue to optimise internally by integrating the downstream sector,’ Oki said.

The merger of three sub-holdings, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN), PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI), and the business segment of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), into a Downstream Sub-holding creates efficiency and better value creation. In terms of sustainability, bioethanol is also being pursued to reduce petrol imports. ‘Then for diesel, this year the Balikpapan phase 2 is completed, it will be efficient. The major homework is the gasoline strip, bioethanol that has been carried out has reached up to 20 percent, like Brazil,’ he explained. ‘With these layers, we hope to be strong and survive with the geopolitics that change from time to time.’
