Amid Global Uncertainty, Government Targets 5.4 Percent Growth
Ongoing global uncertainty poses a challenge to the national economy. Fluctuations in energy prices to global geopolitical dynamics are seen as continuously overshadowing growth prospects.
Nevertheless, the government continues to target economic growth this year at around 5.4 percent. Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the current global conditions still require serious attention.
“We know that the war in the Strait of Hormuz is not yet over, still in a situation that needs to be monitored on a micro level. Because oil price fluctuations also rise and fall weekly,” said Airlangga during the Media Briefing on Q1 2026 Realisation and Implementation of KBLI 2025 in Jakarta, Thursday (23/4/2026).
Amid these pressures, the government assesses that domestic economic performance remains stable. Growth in the first quarter is said to be relatively good, supported by household consumption, the distribution of holiday allowances (THR), and the acceleration of state spending.
“Growth in the first quarter is quite good. Supported by household consumption, THR distribution, as well as accelerated spending and stimulus reaching Rp 809 trillion,” he said.
