Amid Global Turmoil, Prabowo Claims Indonesia's Economy Hits 13-Year Record

President Prabowo Subianto has stated that the Indonesian economy remains resilient in the face of challenging global conditions. The world is currently marked by uncertainty due to rising energy prices caused by war, high global interest rates, depreciating currencies in various countries, and political tensions.

Despite these pressures, the Indonesian economy managed to record high growth in the first semester of 2026. According to Prabowo, this economic performance is the highest growth recorded in the last 13 years.

“Amid these global pressures and uncertainties, we are grateful that our economy continues to stand firm. Our economy in the first semester of this year grew at its highest rate in 13 years,” Prabowo said during the President’s speech on the submission of the 2027 State Budget Bill and Financial Note at the Nusantara Building, DPR, Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday.

Indonesia’s economy grew by 5.29% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, bringing total growth for the first semester of 2026 to 5.45%.

Prabowo stated that this result is proof that Indonesia does not have to choose between growth and prudence. “We do not choose between helping the people and safeguarding the state budget; we do both. The world is watching and monitoring our stance,” he asserted.
