Amid Global Turbulence, Public Deposits in Banks Still Grow in Q1 2026
JAKARTA — The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) recorded that public deposits in national banking continued to grow amid global economic turbulence since early 2026.
LPS Chairman Anggito Abimanyu stated that deposits with balances under Rp100 million increased by 1.84% year-on-year in May 2026.
Deposits with balances over Rp5 billion also maintained high growth. As of March 2026, the jumbo deposit category recorded a 21.6% growth.
“So, there is no impact from the influence of the global crisis,” Anggito said during the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) press conference at the Radius Prawiro Tower, Jakarta, on Thursday (7/5/2026).
Nevertheless, the growth in large deposits remained positive even without government funds.
“We are growing naturally, especially with government funds placed in Himbara banks also adding to the deposit growth,” he said.
In terms of nominal value, deposits under Rp100 million account for 11.26% of total public deposits in banks.
Meanwhile, deposits over Rp5 billion dominate with a share of 57.88% of total national banking deposits.
National banking third-party funds (DPK) also continued to record strong growth. Over the same period, DPK grew by 13.57%.
“So the answer is that there is no influence from global turbulence on the pattern or behaviour of our deposits,” Anggito said.
