In the midst of increasing global economic uncertainty, the condition of the national banking sector is still considered stable. This serves as an important pillar for the public depositing funds in the financial sector.

PT Pemeringkat Efek Indonesia (Pefindo) notes that all rated financial services companies in the first quarter of 2026 have stable outlooks. Over that period, there were 73 rating publications from 40 companies.

Danan Dito, Head of the Financial Institutions Ratings Division at Pefindo, stated that although global pressures are intensifying, the resilience of the banking sector remains intact, particularly in terms of financial conditions.

“Even though macroeconomic risks are increasing, from a financial perspective, the banking sector’s resilience is still very strong,” he said during an online media briefing on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

According to him, public confidence in banking also remains a key factor in maintaining the stability of this sector.

Nevertheless, Pefindo warns of risks that need to be anticipated, one of which is the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate, which could affect market confidence.

“Rupiah depreciation could impact confidence, both from investors and business actors,” he said.

On the other hand, global uncertainty is making rating agencies more cautious in assessing future prospects. Several growth projections are considered potentially subject to correction.

“It hasn’t reached the point of downgrading ratings, but we are becoming more conservative in our forward projections,” he said.

With these conditions, the banking sector is deemed still capable of maintaining stability amid global pressures, although it remains necessary to be vigilant against external dynamics that could affect future performance.
