Jakarta, VIVA – Gold is expected to remain the most pursued asset by global investors next week, following increased geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, alongside uncertainty regarding the direction of United States interest rate policies. These conditions are believed to be encouraging central banks worldwide to once again increase their holdings of precious metals as a safe-haven instrument.

Currency and commodity observer Ibrahim Assuaibi stated that global gold prices (XAU) are expected to move within a relatively high range throughout the coming week. He noted that gold still has room for appreciation amidst rising global risks.

“As for XAU itself, I see that XAU will likely be traded within the week at the level of US$3,836 per troy ounce, with resistance at US$4,290 per troy ounce. In the short term, the support is likely at US$3,990 per troy ounce, with resistance at US$4,132 per troy ounce,” Ibrahim told tvOnenews.com on Sunday, 2 August 2026.

Regarding domestic precious metal prices, Ibrahim predicts that movement will also remain at high levels.

“For precious metals themselves, it is likely that in the coming week, they will be traded with support at Rp2,410,000 per gram and resistance at Rp2,720,000 per gram. In the short term, support is likely at Rp2,580,000 per gram, with resistance at Rp2,623,000 per gram,” he said.

Ibrahim explained that gold price fluctuations are influenced by several key factors, ranging from geopolitical developments, political dynamics in the United States, and US central bank policies, to the balance of global supply and demand.

“What causes gold and precious metals to fluctuate? There are several factors involved, including geopolitical issues, politics in America, US Central Bank policy, and finally, supply and demand,” he said.

According to Ibrahim, the escalation of conflict in the Middle East is the factor most closely watched by market participants. Reports regarding the potential for large-scale attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran’s energy infrastructure are seen as capable of worsening global uncertainty, especially after Iran warned it would launch retaliatory strikes should such military action occur.
