Amid Cargo Transport Restrictions, Performance Does Not Slacken
PT IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) successfully maintained solid operational performance in the first quarter of 2026, recording a total throughput of 850,768 TEUs, representing a 0.9% growth compared to the same period in the previous year of 843,187 TEUs. This achievement highlights the company’s operational resilience amid logistics dynamics during the Eid al-Fitr period, including cargo transport restrictions to support the smooth flow of national homecoming traffic. Corporate Secretary of IPC TPK, Pramestie Wulandary, stated that this accomplishment is inseparable from the company’s anticipatory measures in optimising operations in a measured manner, both before and after the logistics restriction period. “IPC TPK has optimised loading and unloading activities ahead of the restriction period and ensured the acceleration of goods flow after the restrictions ended. This strategy allows us to maintain smooth distribution while minimising potential build-ups at the terminal,” she said on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. In March 2026, the loading and unloading flow was recorded at 250,352 TEUs, experiencing a decline of about 14% compared to the same period in the previous year of 290,923 TEUs. Nevertheless, performance in the domestic segment showed a positive trend, with volume growing 3.5% from 623,532 TEUs in March 2025 to 645,084 TEUs in March 2026. In contrast, international container flow experienced a decline from 219,655 TEUs in March 2025 to 205,684 TEUs in March 2026, or 6.4%, influenced by adjustments to global shipping schedules and cross-border goods distribution dynamics during that period. By region, throughput growth was recorded evenly across several IPC TPK operational areas, including Tanjung Priok Area at 1%, Pontianak Area at 1.6%, Panjang Area at 2%, and Teluk Bayur Area recording the highest growth of 5.3%. “The Eid al-Fitr momentum becomes an opportunity for us to strengthen our adaptive and integrated operational system,” said Pramestie.
