Amicable settlement reached as Undip continues to probe beating and sexual harassment case involving FIB student
Semarang — Diponegoro University (Undip) said it would continue to investigate a case of alleged sexual harassment by Arnendo (20), a student in the Social Anthropology programme, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) at Undip. Arnendo is alleged to have been mobbed by dozens of seniors after being accused of sexually harassing a female student on campus.
FIB Undip has facilitated a meeting between Arnendo’s legal representatives and the alleged perpetrators on Friday 6 March 2026. After the meeting, both sides agreed to resolve the case of their client amicably within a family-like arrangement.
Nevertheless, the Director of the Directorate for Media Networking, Community, and Public Communication at Undip, Nurul Hasfi, said that the university would continue to pursue further inquiry into the case of alleged sexual harassment as well as the mob assault involving Arnendo. “Undip’s teams, however, have already formed two teams. The first is the Ethics Team, which is specifically to investigate the alleged assault. The second is the Sexual Violence Task Force,” Nurul told reporters at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Undip.
According to Nurul, three Undip students have reported and claimed to be victims of sexual harassment by Arnendo. “We will wait for the teams to work; afterwards we will communicate the results,” he said.
