AmEx, Telkomsel sign deal

JAKARTA (JP): American Express card members who subscribe to Telkomsel's GSM network can now conveniently pay cellular phone bills by directly debiting their Amex account.

The new paying convenience is a result of a strategic agreement signed between American Express Travel Related Services (TRS) and Telkomsel earlier this week.

Vice president and country manager of TRS, Atul Mathur, said Amex card members would not be charged with a transfer fee when they used their card to pay Telkomsel bills.

Telkomsel director of finance Sudirdja said phone bills charged to Amex cards would be done according to the currency used by the members.

"If you use your card in US dollars, you will be billed in dollars. The same applies for members with rupiah accounts. There is no double conversion charge," he said. (cst)
