American vows to do more after plane crash

SINGAPORE (Reuters): An American architect who canceled his
booking on a SilkAir flight which crashed in Indonesia on Friday
with no signs of survivors among the 104 people on board, vowed
to live life even more fully.

"I'm quite shaken," 52-year-old Enrique Morales told Reuters
after arriving in Singapore on a later flight because he had to
cancel his seat on the SilkAir flight when his business meetings
in Jakarta ran longer than expected.

SilkAir flight MI 185 crashed halfway between Jakarta and
Singapore. Indonesian officials said it did not appear any of the
97 passengers or seven crew had survived.

Morales said he drove to his home in Singapore after landing
pondering what almost was a second chance at life.

"I was thinking I would have to do a lot of things in my
life," he said.

"I have always lived my life intensely, but maybe I should be
doing more," he added.

Morales said he traveled frequently between Singapore and
Jakarta on business and the crash he was so nearly involved in
would not put him off flying.

He would fly back to Jakarta on Monday, he said.
