American arrested with 8 kg of marijuana

MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: A United States national named
John Edward Stetler was arrested at Hotel Baka-Baka here on
Thursday, in connection with the discovery of eight kilograms of
marijuana a day before.

Police also apprehended his girlfriend, who was named a
witness.

Stetler was reportedly listed on the Interpol wanted list,
after being linked to the smuggling of 15 tons of marijuana from
USA to Thailand.

Police suspected that he carried some 150 kilograms of
marijuana into the province, but he denied the allegation.

The suspect claimed the eight kilos of marijuana belonged to
one of his friends. (49/edt)
