Ambulance Driver in Samarinda Arrested for Raping Minor Under Fake Job Scam

A 17-year-old student in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, has become the victim of sexual assault by a man who lured her with a fake job offer. The suspect, identified by the initials MR, 24, worked as an ambulance driver and was arrested by the Samarinda Police Resort. The Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit, Ipda Marisa Ferbina, confirmed that the case came to light after the victim’s family filed a report on 21 January 2026. The suspect initially contacted the victim using a false name and enticed her with a job offering a lucrative salary of IDR 15 million for a three-week work period. He then coerced the victim into engaging in video call sex. When the victim attempted to refuse after realising the payment was a lie, the suspect threatened to distribute the nude recordings to her school. Fearing the consequences, the victim was forced to comply and was subsequently raped four times at the suspect’s residence. The assaults occurred on Wednesday, 20 November 2024, between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM Central Indonesian Time. The family discovered the ordeal after the victim complained of pain in her genital area. A medical examination revealed she was suffering from a urinary tract infection and a Bartholin’s cyst resulting from the sexual violence. After nearly six months of investigation, the police identified and arrested MR without resistance on Wednesday, 15 July, while he was with friends on Jalan M. Yamin, Samarinda. Authorities confiscated clothing belonging to the victim and the suspect, along with four mobile phones used for communication and threats. The suspect is currently detained at the Samarinda Police headquarters pending further legal proceedings.
