Ambon's Kodaeral IX Conducts Combat Drill on KRI Dorang to Ensure Readiness
The Maritime Regional Command (Kodaeral) IX Ambon facilitated a combat drill exercise aboard the KRI Dorang-874 to ensure the readiness and professionalism of soldiers in manning the warship, a strategic component of the Indonesian Navy’s primary weaponry system (alutsista).
Commander of KRI Dorang-874, Patrol Boat Unit (Satrol) Kodaeral IX, who also served as the Exercise Implementation Officer (Palaklat), Lieutenant Colonel (Navy) Eko Hadi, stated in Ambon on Wednesday that the drill served as a means to hone combat skills while enhancing personnel readiness to face various dynamics of operational duties at sea.
“This combat drill aims to improve professionalism, readiness, and the combat instinct of soldiers in facing the various dynamics of operational duties at sea,” he said.
The exercise, which took place aboard KRI Dorang-874 while docked at the Irian Pier of Kodaeral IX in Halong, Ambon City, on 23-24 June 2026, was part of the 2026 Indonesian Navy Professional Month activities.
According to him, the training material covered various tactical and technical procedures for dealing with combat situations at sea, ranging from personnel readiness and mastery of ship combat procedures to coordination between sections in supporting operations.
He explained that these capabilities are crucial aspects that every soldier must master to support the tasks of securing territorial waters and enforcing state sovereignty at sea.
Throughout the exercise, all soldiers of the Kodaeral IX Patrol Boat Unit participated in each stage with enthusiasm and high spirits. The activity also served to strengthen team solidarity and improve individual skills according to their respective fields of duty.
Meanwhile, Kodaeral IX Commander, Rear Admiral Hanarko Djodi Pamungkas, affirmed that combat training is part of personnel development that must be carried out in a tiered, phased, and continuous manner to form tough, professional, and operationally ready soldiers.
Through this exercise, each soldier is expected to understand their duties, responsibilities, and combat procedures according to their role on the warship.
“This activity is one of the efforts to ensure all personnel have optimal capability and readiness in supporting the Navy’s duties to safeguard the security of Indonesian waters,” said Hanarko.
With the implementation of the KRI Dorang-874 combat drill, Kodaeral IX Ambon reaffirmed its commitment to improving human resource capabilities and the operational readiness of its units to maintain maritime security and uphold the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.
