The Class III Women’s Penitentiary in Ambon has launched the ‘Beta Puan’ digital service application. This app was developed to ensure that the visitor registration process at the facility is no longer manual.

‘Beta Puan’ is expected to facilitate families or relatives of inmates, referred to as warga binaan pemasyarakatan (WBP), in conducting visits. Visitors simply need to access the app to select their visitation schedule.

According to the official website of the Directorate General of Corrections under the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Imipas), prospective visitors must enter their personal details into the ‘Beta Puan’ app. Through the app, visitors can choose their visitation time, eliminating the need for long queues on the day itself.

“This application is a concrete step in supporting digital transformation while providing faster, more orderly, and transparent services to the public,” said the Head of Ambon Women’s Penitentiary, Hesta Van Harling.

Hesta stated that her facility no longer uses a manual system for managing visitors. “Since the launch of the Beta Puan app, our visitation services no longer rely on a manual system,” she added.

Not only families but also prison staff benefit from ‘Beta Puan’. It makes it easier for staff to monitor visitors.

“Everything is now integrated digitally, making it easier for inmates’ families and assisting staff in scheduling visits more effectively,” Hesta explained.

What is the response from prison visitors regarding this app? “Now, there’s no need to arrive early in the morning just to queue,” said one visitor, Salahudin Halim.

Salahudin mentioned that he selected an available visitation slot through the app. Upon arriving at the prison as scheduled, he was immediately granted access to visit.

“Just register via the app, arrive according to the schedule, and the process is quick. It’s very helpful for us as families of inmates,” he stated.

This innovation in services at Ambon Women’s Penitentiary aligns with the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services’ working slogan, PRIMA. Minister Agus Andrianto, during a thanksgiving event for the ministry’s first anniversary, elaborated on PRIMA as standing for professional, responsive, integrity, modern, and accountable.

The Minister explained that “professional” refers to performance based on data, competence, and service standards. “Responsive” means being sensitive to public needs and global dynamics.

Third, integrity serves as the foundation of public trust. Then, modern in terms of technology governance and work culture. Finally, accountable in every use of budget, authority, and services.

“The PRIMA values are not just a slogan but must become the DNA of the organisation, the character of every immigration and correctional services personnel in carrying out state duties,” Minister Agus said at the Narcotics Class IIA Penitentiary in Cipinang, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (19/11/2025).
