Ambon (ANTARA) -

The Ambon City Government, Maluku, is providing pocket money of Rp1 million to each prospective Hajj pilgrim as a form of support and concern for the smooth running of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.

“We are facilitating, including providing pocket money to all prospective Hajj pilgrims, Rp1 million per person. This is proof of the city government’s concern for all pilgrims, hopefully it will be beneficial,” said Ambon Mayor Bodewin M. Wattimena in Ambon on Monday.

The pocket money assistance was handed directly to representatives of the pilgrims during the send-off event for Ambon City’s prospective Hajj pilgrims (JCH) to the Holy Land, together with the Maluku Provincial Ministry of Religious Affairs Office and the Ambon City Hajj and Umrah Office.

Bodewin stated that the assistance is given to all JCH who will depart for the Holy Land, with the hope that it can help meet their needs while performing the pilgrimage.

“We are grateful that after going through the preparation stages, including mutations in and out of pilgrims, today we can send off 461 prospective Hajj pilgrims from Ambon City,” he said.

The city government hopes that all the preparation processes that have been carried out, both in administration, mental, physical, and health, can have a positive impact on the pilgrims when performing their pilgrimage in the Holy Land.

“Our hope is that all the preparation processes carried out by the organisers together with the city government can have a good impact when they arrive in the Holy Land and perform the Hajj pilgrimage,” he said.
