Ambassador: Pancasila is the key to Indonesia's civilisation and diplomacy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ambassador to Tunisia, Zuhairi Misrawi, stated that Pancasila serves as the key to Indonesia’s civilisation, including in diplomacy that can realise mutual benefit.
“We believe that Pancasila can serve as the foundation in building diplomatic civilisation. Within Pancasila lies the spirit of friendship and cooperation, thus becoming the key to building Indonesia’s civilisation in a global context,” Zuhairi said in a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Tunisia received in Jakarta on Friday.
The Indonesian Embassy in Tunis held a discussion titled “Pancasila: Indonesia’s Philosophy” as part of the 40th International Book Fair in Tunisia on Thursday (30/4), which was also attended by senior journalist from the daily al-Maghrib, Ziyad Krisyan, and journalist from the daily al-Syuruq, Fadhil Thayyasyi.
The Ambassador assessed that the philosophy of friendship between Indonesia and Tunisia is a concrete manifestation of Pancasila in action, building hope for realising mutual benefit for both countries.
He explained that Pancasila, which is Indonesia’s philosophy as well as national ideology, has proven to unite and become a driving force for building Indonesia’s civilisation.
“Pancasila is the philosophy and ideology of the Indonesian nation, which has proven to unite all diverse elements of the nation, whether in terms of religion, language, or ethnicity. Pancasila enables Indonesia to build national civilisation,” he said.
He also explained that the core of Pancasila, as conveyed by the Father of the Nation’s Proclamator, Sukarno, is gotong royong.
“We believe that as long as gotong royong remains alive in national and state life, Indonesia has the opportunity to play a significant role in building world civilisation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the two senior Tunisian journalists, Ziyad and Fadhil, share a similar view on Pancasila. Both conveyed that Pancasila is not only spoken but truly realised in concrete actions.
