Ambassador: Indonesia-Bulgaria Relations Continue to Develop Across Various Sectors
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Bulgarian Ambassador to Indonesia, Tanya Dimitra, stated that bilateral relations between the two countries continue to develop through increased cooperation across various sectors, including politics, trade, education, science, and culture.
According to Dimitrova, the strengthening of these relations is reflected in the exchange of high-level official visits, including the visit of Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Poulev to Indonesia on 14 September 2026.
This was conveyed by Dimitrova during a reception commemorating Bulgaria’s 118th Independence Day and the 70th anniversary of Indonesia-Bulgaria diplomatic relations in Jakarta on Monday evening.
Previously, the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Anis Matta, conducted an official visit to Bulgaria. This year, both nations are maintaining this momentum through a visit by the Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs to Indonesia.
Dimitrova noted that both countries are also continuing dialogue through political consultations at the Director-General level as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties.
In addition to political relations, cooperation is also expanding through inter-ministerial exchanges, increased trade, and the strengthening of ties in the fields of education, science, and culture, she said.
Dimitrova also highlighted the inauguration of a bust of Bulgarian national hero Vasil Levski in front of the Bulgarian Embassy in Jakarta on 12 September 2026.
According to her, the monument reflects the values of freedom, dignity, courage, and the belief that a nation can become stronger by investing in its future.
Dimitrova remarked that geographical distance does not hinder the similarities between the Indonesian and Bulgarian people, particularly in their appreciation for friendship, hospitality, togetherness, and food.
Also present at the event were the Indonesian Minister for the Protection of Migrant Workers, Mukhtarudin, the Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Stella Christie, as well as several foreign ambassadors, including those from Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
