Ambassador Boroujerdi Appreciates Support from Indonesian National Figures
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, revealed that a series of meetings he held with Indonesian national figures were a step to appreciate their support for Iran.
“The purpose of the visits and meetings was to convey thanks for their support of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Ambassador Boroujerdi after the launch of a commemorative book for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Jakarta on Saturday.
In addition to expressing thanks, Ambassador Boroujerdi said that on the same occasion, he informed the figures about Iran’s situation amid attacks by the United States and Israel.
“I also provided a kind of report on the latest conditions in the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he added.
Ambassador Boroujerdi also appreciated the widespread support from the figures and Indonesian society for Iran during the attacks by the US and Israel, up to the current efforts to achieve peace.
Regarding the possibility of meeting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Ambassador Boroujerdi said he would feel greatly honoured if he could later be received and meet directly with President Prabowo.
“If he, Mr President (Prabowo), grants me that honour, I would be very grateful,” he stated.
In the diplomatic tour he undertook, Ambassador Boroujerdi has met with the 5th President of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, the 7th President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, and the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla.
Boroujerdi also met with the Mayor of Surakarta Respati Achmad Ardianto, General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) Yahya Cholil Staquf, Islamic scholar Din Syamsuddin along with representatives of Islamic mass organisations (ormas), and former Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Tuan Guru Bajang Zainul Majdi.
