Amani Emas Expands Access to Gold-Backed Financing
TANGERANG — Gold pawning can be an alternative way for people to obtain financing by leveraging assets they own. Easy access, transparent gold valuation and clear fees are important factors in such sharia-compliant financing services.
Seeing an opportunity, Amani Emas opened an outlet in the Pasar Lama area of Tangerang City on Saturday (17 October 2026), providing access to gold-pawning services in partnership with Amani Bank. The outlet also offers gold buying and selling transactions.
Under the partnership, Amani Emas provides the outlet network, while gold-pawn financing is provided through Amani Bank. The two companies are separate entities under Sistem Amani, each with its own function.
Amani Bank president director Endro Yuniaryo said using gold outlets could expand the reach of financing without the need to open new bank branches in every area.
“Through this collaboration, we want to bring financing services closer to the public through Amani Emas outlets. People can access gold-pawning services more easily without always having to visit a bank branch,” Endro said in a press release on Sunday (18 October 2026).
PT Amani Emas Indonesia president director Rendy Saputra said transparency in checking gold purity and weight was one of the factors considered when determining the value of collateral. Customers can find out the gold’s purity and weight before accessing financing.
“This modern buyback shop, God willing, does not reduce the stated carat value. You can check the purity and price, and be offered the best price. What sets us apart from other shops is that you can also pawn gold here,” Rendy said after the outlet’s opening.
Gold-pawn financing is available up to a maximum of Rp250 million per customer. In the product’s introduction, the safekeeping fee, or ujrah, was stated as 2 per cent per month of the value of the gold held, subject to the terms of the applicable product scheme.
Pasar Lama was chosen as the first location because it is one of Tangerang’s centres of trade and economic activity. The location is also seen as a way to bring financing closer to businesses and residents who need funds.
“We are moving closer to Pasar Lama with that in mind: providing capital and so on,” Rendy said.
Amani Emas plans to expand its outlet network to several areas. The funds required to support gold-pawn services are estimated at between Rp2 billion and Rp4 billion per outlet.
For the Pasar Lama outlet, the company is targeting transaction value of around Rp100 million per day, with gold volumes of approximately 30–40 grammes. The outlet network is intended as a model for expanding access to sharia-compliant gold pawning through service points closer to centres of economic activity.
