Aman Nusa II Forest Fire Education Task Force Assists in Cooling Operations in Central Kalimantan
The Forest and Land Fire (Karhutla) Education Task Force of Operation Aman Nusa II, involving the 36th Class of the Polri Senior Leadership Programme (Sespimti) 2026, continues its efforts to prevent the spread of land fires in the Palangka Raya area. One of the measures taken includes conducting cooling operations on land that previously burned in the Mahir Mahar Street area, Palangka Raya.
The activity was attended by Inspector General Rakhmad Setyadi and Brigadier General Ivan Adhityas Nugraha, alongside the Karhutla Education Task Force and the 36th Class of the Polri Sespimti. The Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Iwan Kurniawan, through the Head of Public Relations, expressed appreciation for the implemented activities.
“The cooling process is being carried out as an anticipatory step to ensure there are no remaining fire spots or embers that could potentially trigger a resurgence of the fire,” Iwan stated in a written release on Thursday (10/09/2026).
Meanwhile, one of the personnel involved revealed that spraying was carried out thoroughly across the affected area, particularly on sections of the land that still have the potential to retain heat.
In addition to on-site handling, the activity also serves as part of an educational and mitigation effort regarding forest and land fires for the community. Officers reminded the public of the importance of vigilance against potential fire risks, especially on land that is highly flammable during hot and dry weather conditions.
“Through this activity, the Aman Nusa II Karhutla Education Task Force, together with the Polri Sespimti students, demonstrates a commitment to strengthening prevention and fire management measures directly in the field,” they stated.
Synergy between the National Police, local government, relevant stakeholders, and the community is expected to be continuously strengthened, ensuring that every potential forest fire can be addressed at the earliest stage to prevent it from developing into a wider conflagration.
