AMA Aircraft Torched by Armed Criminal Group in Remote Yahukimo

An aircraft owned by PT AMA with registration number PK-RCY was allegedly set on fire by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan. The case remains under police investigation. “The incident is true, but other details are still being investigated,” said Senior Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Damai Cartenz 2026, on Thursday (2/7/2026). The arson occurred at Balinggama Airstrip in Yahukimo on Thursday morning. Yusuf has not yet confirmed the condition of the aircraft or the crew at the scene. “The location is very far, at a high altitude and remote, so it cannot yet be confirmed by anyone there,” Yusuf added.
