The Indonesian government continues to promote the shift from fuel-powered vehicles to electric vehicles, both through the purchase of new units and the conversion of older vehicles. This step is part of the broader national energy transition strategy. The ultimate goal is for all vehicles in the country to switch to electric power in the future. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has revealed that he has been appointed as the Head of the National Energy Transition Task Force. This task force is responsible for implementing the acceleration of electrification programmes, including vehicle conversions. According to him, this approach can expand market education regarding electric vehicles. “This programme can broaden market education and build new societal habits that electric vehicles are the primary daily mobility solution, not merely an alternative,” said the man familiarly known as Adit to Kompas.com on Thursday (2/4/2026). Adit also assessed that the conversion programme needs to be viewed in a broader context, namely the overall acceleration of the electric vehicle ecosystem. As an electric motorcycle producer, ALVA claims to have prepared a supporting ecosystem, from charging networks to after-sales services. Currently, ALVA has more than 180 Boost Charge Station connectors at 70 locations and a service network in 38 cities. Adit added that industrial readiness and government policy support must go hand in hand. “We believe that strong policy momentum from the government, combined with the industry’s readiness to deliver relevant products and a mature ecosystem, is the most effective combination,” he stated.
