ALVA CEO Confident Sales Will Surge 100%, Highlights Fuel Price Effect
Electric motorcycle manufacturer Alva has recorded significant sales growth over the past year. Amid rising fuel prices, the company has also observed increased public interest in electric motorcycles, although this is not the sole driving factor.
Alva CEO Purbaja Pantja stated that Alva’s sales throughout 2025 increased by more than 50% compared to the previous year. This trend has led the company to set a more aggressive target this year, aiming for sales to more than double.
"If we look at 2024 to 2025, we saw an increase of more than 50% in volume. So our target this year is actually more than double compared to last year. This year we hope to achieve a volume that is more than double last year’s," Purbaja said during a media discussion in Tangerang on Monday.
This optimism is supported not only by the growth of the electric vehicle market but also by changes in consumer behaviour. Alva believes that more people are beginning to calculate the cost efficiency of vehicle use when fuel prices rise.
According to Purbaja, the increase in fuel prices has indeed had an effect on public attention towards electric motorcycles. However, the company had already prepared higher growth targets from the outset, so the sales increase was not solely triggered by that condition.
"If we talk specifically about fuel, the impact is there. When there were discussions about fuel prices and eventually non-Pertalite fuels underwent changes, it seemed to bring more attention to the electric motorcycle industry. So if you say there was a surge, maybe there was, but overall, from the beginning of the year we had already set a higher sales target than the previous year," he said.
Nevertheless, Alva admitted it has not specifically calculated how much the fuel price increase contributed to the sales rise. The company prefers to look at the monthly sales trend, which continues to show improvement, rather than separating the causal factors.
"We haven’t calculated it specifically because we also aren’t looking at what the increase was like. But if you look at the monthly sales development, there does seem to be an increase," Purbaja said.
On the other hand, Alva believes the electric motorcycle market growth is also driven by broader public education, an increasing choice of products at more affordable prices, and the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem, which makes using electric motorcycles more practical as a daily vehicle.
"So three things. One, education; two, motorcycles with different prices and levels; three, ecosystem development that ensures this motorcycle can indeed be used as primary transport. That is where the cost savings of usage will truly be felt by electric motorcycle users," Purbaja concluded.
