Alumni Birmingham Push Collaboration Towards Golden Indonesia 2045

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Alumni Association of the University of Birmingham (IA UoB) is promoting cross-sector collaboration through the Global Alumni Gathering (GAG) 2026 to support development towards Golden Indonesia 2045.

In a statement received in Jakarta on Monday, Chair of the IA UoB Board of Trustees and Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung said alumni networks must serve as a vehicle for collaboration capable of bringing together government, the business community, academics and society to produce knowledge-based solutions.

“Alumni networks must not stop at being merely a space for social connection. The network must become a platform for collaboration that brings together government, business, academia and society,” said Juda.

GAG 2026, held at the Finance Ministry building in Jakarta on Saturday (18/7), adopted the theme “Creating an Inclusive Future Through Fiscal Innovation, Digital Economy, Quality Education, and Sustainable Development” and featured a main session bringing together policymakers, academics, business actors, development partners, international alumni communities and the younger generation.

IA UoB General Chair Redita Aliyah said the forum served as a space to strengthen networks and gather alumni contributions to deliver solutions to various development challenges.

The event was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Deputy Minister of National Development Planning/Deputy Head of Bappenas Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, and Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ireland and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Desra Percaya.
