ALTERNATIVE mudik routes for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah in Cianjur District, West Java, are currently undergoing repairs by the local government. The District Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) is targeting completion by H-7 (7 days before Eid).

Eri Rihandiar, Head of Cianjur District’s Public Works Office, stated that the road network in Cianjur District is a key transit route for mudik travellers before Eid. The local government views it as necessary to prepare road infrastructure to provide comfort and safety for returning travellers.

“We have identified a number of alternative routes that we are preparing to handle the mudik traffic. These alternative routes are frequently used by travellers to avoid congestion on the main routes or nationally designated roads,” said Eri on Wednesday (11 March).

Currently, these alternative routes are undergoing maintenance and repair work. Several road segments still require attention.

“We are targeting 13 March 2026, or H-7 before Eid al-Fitr, for the alternative road repairs to be completed so that travellers can use them safely and comfortably,” he added.

High rainfall and extreme weather have posed challenges to road repair efforts. Eri cited the condition of roads in the Bundaran Tugu Lampu Gentur area, which has deteriorated several times despite previous repairs. In January, the road was repaired but only lasted a few days before becoming damaged again. The same occurred in February following asphalt work.

“We will carry out road repairs using concrete casting at Bundaran Tugu Lampu Gentur. Work is currently in progress and is scheduled to begin on 13 March,” he concluded.
