The Directorate General of Human Settlements at the Ministry of Public Works has leaked an alternative design for the new West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) building. The reconstruction of the people’s representative building, which was burned down by a mob on 30 August 2025, is estimated to cost Rp 200 billion.

Head of the NTB Building, Infrastructure and Area Planning Centre (BPBPK), Dades Prinandes, stated that the new NTB DPRD building’s design will reflect the ethnic characteristics and traditions of Bumi Gora. The new design for the people’s representative building will be equipped with symbols of traditional culture from Lombok Island and Sumbawa Island.

“So it will represent forms according to NTB traditions. The model will include a rice barn, as proposed by the DPRD,” Dades emphasised after receiving a visit from the Chair of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Lasarus, and his team on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

Dades could not yet disclose a precise estimate of the total cost required to rebuild the NTB DPRD building. This is because the NTB BPBPK is still focusing on completing the detailed engineering design (DED).

“There were three alternative designs, but the DPRD members proposed alternative number two. Once the DED is finished, we will provide an update in October or September,” Dades revealed.

In accordance with Lasarus’s direction, Dades said the construction of the new NTB DPRD building will undergo an early tender process. This tender will be carried out in the 2026 fiscal year after the DED is completed.

“So the work will be done in 2027, with the early tender held in 2026 so that the contract can be executed at the beginning of 2027,” Dades explained.

The construction of the new NTB DPRD building is targeted for completion within 11 months. This relatively short timeframe is not expected to compromise the building’s specifications.

“I think that’s sufficient. For this standard, it’s not a building over 10 storeys. We think it’s enough,” Dades stressed.

Dades confirmed that the new building will be separate from the existing four-storey DPRD secretariat building located to the south. The difference between the new DPRD building and the secretariat building is that the new structure will include a basement for parking.

“So, looking at it here, it is separate from the secretariat building. It will have five storeys including the plenary meeting room, basement parking, members’ rooms, and an aspirations room,” Dades explained.

The initial cost estimate for the construction was Rp 200 billion. However, Dades could not yet confirm whether this estimate aligns with the DED currently being prepared.

“That’s the rough figure. But we will need to discuss this further with the provincial government,” Dades stressed.

Regarding the proposal for an aspirations room to accommodate demonstrators, Dades said this still requires further discussion. The aspirations room was not included in the three alternative designs submitted by the ministry.

Meanwhile, Lasarus also confirmed that the construction of the new five-storey NTB DPRD building would be completed within 11 months. He urged the executive to finalise the DED for the new building promptly.

“We ask that the design be completed soon. If the design is finished, we will secure the funding and contract it immediately because an early tender can be conducted,” Lasarus explained.
