Alternative Batutulis Road in Bogor Completed for Repair, Can Be Traversed Today

Residents near Jalan Sekip, Lawanggintung, South Bogor, in Bogor City have completed community-driven asphalt paving on the alternative Batutulis Cipaku-Lawanggintung road. Motorists can use this access starting today, Thursday (14/5/2026). For context, the Cipaku-Lawanggintung alternative road serves as a route for drivers after the closure of the landslide-prone Jalan Saleh Danasasmita. “We started at 8:00 PM WIB yesterday. We rushed it from 8:00 PM, and alhamdulillah, it’s finished. Tomorrow (today) the alternative road can be used again,” said Nawi when met by Kompas.com on Jalan Sekip, Wednesday (13/5/2026). Even though the road was wet after rain, the paving continued by burning the route to dry it quickly. He and other residents used available methods such as portable gas torches or directly burning the road with petrol. “We waited for the rain to stop yesterday. We burned the road first to make it somewhat dry before starting the asphalt. The method was manual, using barbecue tools, and we threw petrol on it and burned it like that,” he explained. The asphalt used for repairing the alternative road came from the Bogor City Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR). “There were quite a lot, about 40 sacks from PUPR. PUPR often sets aside some for us, and we’ve already requested stock for repairs,” he said. Around 40 to 50 residents carried out the road paving and patched holes on the Cipaku-Lawanggintung alternative road. The dozens of people were divided into two groups: one in the middle section paving the collapsed parts due to high rainfall, while others patched road holes with asphalt. “There were about 40 to 50 people. Down here it’s this group, and there are more below at the posts. We didn’t just pave there; we also fixed the holes nearby,” he said.
