Police have disclosed that the driver of a Toyota Alphard which ran a traffic light at a pelican crossing in front of the Pullman Hotel, Central Jakarta, was using a fake number plate to avoid the odd-even traffic restriction. The vehicle was using plate number D 1828 XHQ, which is actually registered to a Daihatsu Gran Max. The driver has been issued a traffic citation for two violations: running a red light and using a number plate not matching the vehicle’s registration. It was later revealed that the driver and two passengers in the Alphard were members of the West Java Regional Police. Despite a mediation agreement with the security guard involved in the initial altercation, the three officers still face an internal ethics hearing and professional sanctions.
