Alphard Driver Who Ran Red Light at Bundaran HI Flashed Membership Card During Mediation with Security Guard
Police are investigating a membership card (KTA) allegedly shown by the driver of a Toyota Alphard during mediation with a security guard named Victor Harefa at the Thamrin police post.
The mediation took place after the Alphard driver and Victor became embroiled in a verbal altercation when the vehicle ran a red traffic light in front of the Pullman Hotel, Central Jakarta.
“We are still looking into it because the person concerned has not been able to explain specifically what membership card it was or where it came from,” said the Head of Menteng Metro Police, AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu, quoted by reporters on Friday (24/7).
Braiel said his side would also seek clarification from the personnel on duty at the police post during the mediation process.
According to Braiel, this clarification aims to establish whether there was any suspected intimidation or violence against Victor, who works as a security guard on an MRT project. However, Braiel claims that so far there was no intimidation or violence during the mediation.
“Yes, they will be asked for clarification, and at the same time we will ask them what happened. Because there was already a mediation process, and then one of the parties felt uncomfortable or displeased,” he said.
“So we want to clarify, we will invite them, to find out what the issue really is. And we will certainly resolve it thoroughly,” he continued.
Previously, a video circulated on social media showing a Toyota Alphard running a red light at a pelican crossing in front of the Pullman Hotel, Central Jakarta, which ended in a verbal altercation with a security guard.
The incident began when several pedestrians were crossing at the pelican crossing after the traffic light turned red for vehicles. However, an Alphard continued driving and ran the red light.
A security guard who was also crossing then reprimanded the Alphard driver. However, the driver was reportedly unhappy with the reprimand.
“The security guard then reprimanded the driver by banging on the car window. The driver did not accept the security guard’s actions and a verbal altercation ensued,” Braiel said.
According to Braiel, the two then went to the police post to seek assistance in resolving the matter through mediation. Subsequently, both parties agreed to reconcile.
Later, the black Toyota Alphard was suspected of using false number plates or plates not matching the vehicle’s registration. The vehicle bore the plate number D 1828 XHQ.
Based on CNNIndonesia.com checks on the Samsat Service feature on the official West Java Regional Revenue Agency website (bapenda.jabarprov.go.id/infopkb), the number plate is registered to a Daihatsu, metallic silver in colour, model S401RV-ZMDEJJ HJ.
Regarding this, the Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the Traffic Directorate at Metro Jaya Regional Police, AKBP Ojo Ruslani, said his side was also investigating the use of the plates. He said they would summon the Alphard driver and the security guard for questioning.
“I will issue a summons for clarification to the Alphard owner, and then a summons to the security guard involved in the altercation with the Alphard driver. After that, we will bring them face to face at the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate,” said Ojo.
