Alphard Driver Mediation Story: Security Guard Told to Do Push-Ups and Threatened

A security guard named Fiktor Harefa (previously written as Victor Harefa) was allegedly ordered to do push-ups during a mediation process following a confrontation with the driver of a Toyota Alphard who had jumped a traffic light at the pelican crossing in front of the Pullman Hotel, Central Jakarta. The mediation is known to have taken place at the Thamrin police post.

Fiktor’s legal counsel, Wiradarma Harefa, said that during the mediation, his client was also intimidated by the driver, who claimed to be a ‘member’.

“At the post, he was intimidated with claims like ‘I am a member’, there was a card but it couldn’t be read because he took it out of his pocket, then he said ‘I am a member’, but he stuck the card on his forehead so it couldn’t be read,” Wira said when contacted on Friday (24/7).

During the mediation, Wira said, his client was also asked to do push-ups. However, the request was refused because Fiktor had just undergone treatment for pain in his right arm.

“Including the push-ups. But he refused them because he said ‘I haven’t eaten and I have just had treatment on my right hand’, which is why he couldn’t manage it,” Wira said.

Not only that, Wira revealed that his client was also threatened with being reported to the company where he worked. The Alphard driver even demanded his identity card.

“Because he was terrified of the threats — ‘I will sack you, I will report you to your vendor, to your user, I will report you to your company, where is your ID card’ — he became frightened. He said, ‘please don’t sack me, please don’t sack me.’ He prostrated himself before those people. That is the story,” he said.

Wira said that, as legal counsel, he plans to pursue legal action over the intimidation Fiktor experienced. However, he said the plan to file a report is still awaiting the client’s readiness.

“As his accompaniment, we plan to file a report, but he is not yet mentally ready to make one. We have told him that if there is indeed something worth reporting, we will file a report,” he said.

Previously, police said there was no violence or beatings during the mediation between the Toyota Alphard driver and the security guard following the incident at the pelican crossing in front of the Pullman Hotel, Central Jakarta.

Head of Menteng Metro Police AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu also denied circulating information alleging intimidation, including claims that the security guard was ordered to prostrate himself or was threatened with losing his job.

“We are still looking into the circulating information. So far there is no evidence of any beatings or violence,” Braiel said in his statement on Thursday (23/7).

Nevertheless, Braiel invited any party who felt aggrieved or possessed evidence relating to the alleged intimidation and violence to come forward.

“If any party feels disadvantaged or has other evidence, we invite them to file a report so that we can process it according to applicable regulations,” Braiel said.

Meanwhile, the black Toyota Alphard is suspected of using false plates, or plates not matching the vehicle’s registration. The vehicle bore the plate number D 1828 XHQ.

Based on checks by CNNIndonesia.com on the Samsat Service feature on the official website of West Java’s Bapenda (https://bapenda.jabarprov.go.id/infopkb), the plate number used is registered to a Daihatsu, metallic silver in colour, model S401RV-ZMDEJJ HJ.

Regarding this matter, Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate AKBP Ojo Ruslani said his office was also investigating the use of the plates. He said the Alphard driver and the security guard would be summoned for questioning.

“I will issue a clarification summons to the owner of the Alphard. Then a clarification summons to the security guard involved in the confrontation with the Alphard driver. After that we will confront them at the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate,” Ojo said.
