Alphard Driver Confronted by Security Guard After Running Red Light at Bundaran HI

A video has gone viral on social media showing a Toyota Alphard running a red light at a pedestrian crossing near the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia TransJakarta stop. The driver’s action was immediately reprimanded by a security guard who was helping pedestrians cross the road.

However, when reprimanded, the driver of the Alphard refused to accept it. As a result, the security guard was escorted to the police post near the location.

So what actually happened? In CCTV footage uploaded to the Instagram account @kabarjakpus24, the crossing light at the bus stop can be seen showing red. A number of vehicles at the location had already come to a stop.

However, the black Alphard continued to drive on even though several pedestrians had begun crossing. A security guard who was about to help people cross then reprimanded the driver of the vehicle.

The black car then slowed down and approached the security guard, briefly causing congestion at the location. In another video uploaded by the account, the security guard was then led by two men wearing batik shirts towards the police post in front of the Hotel Indonesia roundabout.

“A number of residents reported the incident in the area of the Bundaran HI TransJakarta stop. Whilst it was busy and the pedestrian crossing light was said to be green, a black Toyota Alphard allegedly forced its way through the crossing area. A security guard who was helping residents cross then reprimanded the driver by knocking on the car. However, the driver reportedly refused to accept it, got out of the vehicle and took the security guard into the post,” read the caption of the Instagram upload, quoted on Thursday, 23 July 2026.

The post was immediately flooded with comments from social media users, many of whom criticised the actions of the Alphard driver.

“This is Jakarta, mate. If an Alphard is up against just a security guard, the Alphard always wins. The state is disappointing,” one netizen commented.

“To the security guard, don’t be afraid. Keep standing up to arrogant people when they cause a ruckus like this,” another comment read.

“Actually, a security guard like this should be appreciated because he doesn’t discriminate — he works according to the rules, not based on the brand of car. Sometimes there are security guards who, when they encounter a luxury car, fawn over it and even help find it a parking spot, whilst when it’s our turn driving nothing more than an Avanza, they don’t even glance our way,” commented another netizen.
