A Toyota Alphard driver and a security guard have agreed to a peaceful resolution following a confrontation that began when the car allegedly ran a red light at a pelican crossing in front of the Hotel Pullman, Central Jakarta. The reconciliation was mediated at the Metro Menteng Police Sector on Friday (24/7). “It has been agreed that the dispute between the driver and Mr Fiktor will be resolved amicably. Both parties have forgiven each other and acknowledged their mistakes,” said Metro Menteng Police Chief AKBP Braiel Ronald Rondonuwu. Braiel noted that the Sub-Directorate for Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police is still investigating the alleged traffic violation for running the red light and the use of a number plate that does not match the vehicle’s registration. He also revealed that the driver and two passengers of the Toyota Alphard are members of the West Java Regional Police. The three will be further processed by the West Java Police’s Internal Affairs Division (Propam). “Regarding the alleged arrogant behaviour, the West Java Police Propam Sub-Directorate will follow up tonight,” he stated. The incident went viral on social media, showing the car driving through the pelican crossing while pedestrians were crossing after the traffic light had turned red. A security guard who was also crossing then reprimanded the driver by banging on the car window, which led to a verbal altercation. Both parties subsequently went to a police post to seek mediation and agreed to make peace. However, reports later emerged alleging that the security guard was intimidated during the mediation process. Additionally, the black Alphard is suspected of using a fake or mismatched number plate. The vehicle was using registration number D 1828 XHQ. A check on the West Java Regional Revenue Agency’s (Bapenda) official Samsat service website indicated that this number plate is registered to a silver Daihatsu model S401RV-ZMDEJJ. Kasubdit Gakkum of Metro Jaya Regional Police, AKBP Ojo Ruslani, stated that the investigation into the alleged misuse of the number plate is ongoing and that the driver and security guard will be summoned for questioning.
