A number of private vehicles, including a Fortuner and an Alphard, were reported to have broken through the Car Free Day (CFD) area on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman on Sunday (23/8). The motor vehicle-free zone is clearly prohibited for any car to pass through, with the exception of Transjakarta buses.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung confirmed that he had received a report regarding the incident. He has also coordinated with the Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub) to investigate the action, which clearly violated traffic regulations.

“I would like to address the matter of private vehicles passing through the car free day area, which should not have happened,” he said in the Tebet area of South Jakarta on Monday (24/8/2026).

He revealed that the area used for the CFD had actually been closed off by officers. However, the closing barrier installed by officers was forcibly opened by the drivers of the vehicles.

“Previously, when the vehicles were about to enter, the area was actually already closed, and they were the ones who opened the barrier, even though the barrier was also guarded by Satpol PP and members of the police,” he said.

After passing through the CFD area, the on-duty Dishub officers immediately intercepted the convoy. The vehicles were then directed to exit the CFD area in the SCBD vicinity.
