Alonso waits for Minardi

MADRID (Reuters): Spanish teenager Fernando Alonso expects to find out within 10 days whether he will drive for the Minardi Formula One racing team next season.

"In 10 days, more or less, my future will be clear," Alonso said on Saturday.

"I'm waiting on news from Minardi. To be ready in time for Australia, work on the car has to start next week."

The season starts on March 4 in Melbourne and struggling Minardi, which scored no points in 2000, has yet to announce an engine deal, drivers or major sponsor for 2001.
