Alongside Makkah Ulama, STIQ Ar-Rahman Addresses Contemporary Islamic Issues

STIQ Ar-Rahman continues to strengthen its academic tradition based on the Alquran through the Al-Muhadharah Al-’Ilmiyyah international forum, held at its campus in Jonggol, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (17/05/2026).

Distinguishing itself from conventional Islamic studies, this forum highlighted how Quranic values can provide solutions to various modern challenges, ranging from social and economic issues to the development of waqf in the contemporary era.

The event, which took place from 13:00 to 15:00 WIB, featured the themes “Maqāṣhid Al-Qur’an in Contemporary Issues” and “Waqf in the Modern Era: Between Originality and Renewal”.

A number of scholars and academics from Makkah Al-Mukarramah attended as keynote speakers. These included Dr Abdurrahman Thalib, an expert in waqf and Sharia law who also serves as the Head of the Awqaf Division of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Chamber of Commerce.

Also present were Dr Jamal Al-Fazani, a Sharia academic and legal consultant, and Dr Muhammad Az-Zamzami, a renowned imam and khatib in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.

The scientific discussion was moderated by STIQ Ar-Rahman lecturer Ridwan Hakim, Lc ME, and attended by the Chairman of STIQ Ar-Rahman, Dr Haris Renaldi, alongside campus leadership, faculty, and hundreds of students.

In their opening remarks, the university administration emphasised that the forum is part of STIQ Ar-Rahman’s efforts to provide Islamic education that is not only oriented towards memorisation and textual study, but also towards strengthening critical thinking and the ability to interpret contemporary realities through a Quranic perspective.
