Alleviating Congestion at Merak Port: Logistics Vehicle Crossings Diverted to Ciwandan Port

Long queues of trucks awaiting ferry crossings through Ciwandan Port extended along the South Ring Road in Cilegon city, Banten, on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The logistics vehicle queues snaked onto the arterial road in Cilegon’s South Ring Road (JLS) following the diversion of truck and two-wheeler crossings to Ciwandan Port to relieve congestion at Merak Port during the 2026 Lebaran holiday travel season. Truck drivers waited in extended queues as vehicles lined up for ferry service through the alternative port facility. The diversion arrangement was implemented as part of traffic management measures to distribute ferry traffic across multiple ports and prevent bottlenecks at Merak Port during the peak holiday travel period.
