Allegedly Lacking Money to Fulfil Desires, Youth in Grobogan, Central Java, Rapes 90-Year-Old Woman

A man with the initials RU (31) has been arrested by Grobogan Police, Central Java, after raping an elderly woman identified as S (90). The incident occurred in Sumberjatipohon Village, Grobogan District, on 29 June 2026.

Grobagan Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Aiptu Rohmat Catur, stated that the perpetrator and the victim are both residents of Sumberjatipohon Village. Based on the investigation, RU raped S while under the influence of alcohol.

‘When questioned, the perpetrator said he had been drinking alcohol. But he wasn’t drunk, only two shots. He is 31 years old, and it is suspected he wanted to fulfil his desires but had no money,’ Rohmat said during an interview on Friday (17/7/2026).

Rohmat explained that RU raped S in her home. That night, S was home alone because all her family members were attending a tahlil in the neighbourhood.

According to Rohmat, upon entering the house, RU threatened the victim. This occurred because S attempted to resist what RU intended to do to her. Ultimately, RU raped S using violence.
